Appliances, Furniture, Equipment and Other Materials Stored Outside a Structure

It is unlawful for persons to store dilapidated furniture, icebox, refrigerator, stove, or other appliances, machinery, equipment, building materials or other items that are rusted, wrecked, dismantled, or in an inoperative condition outside a building. After thirty (30) days notice is given to the property owner, and no response or action is taken by the owner, then the appliances may be removed by Town employees or by a private contractor. The cost of removal will become a lien on the property. Allied/BFI Waste Services does provide an appliance pick-up service at no charge but a special pick-up request must be made by calling Town of Matthews Public Works Department at 704-847-3640.
