The Board of Adjustment was established to hear appeals on decisions made by the Zoning Administrator, to interpret the Zoning Ordinance, and to grant zoning variances. If you feel that you received a zoning violation in error, you may file an appeal with the Board of Adjustment. You may request an interpretation if there is a question about the meaning or application of a particular section of the Zoning Ordinance. Variances may be requested when your property experiences unnecessary hardship due to the strict provision of zoning regulations. For example, you want to build a new house but your property has a very steep slope in the rear yard making the buildable area of the lot too small for any house plan. The Board of Adjustment meets on the first Thursday of each month, should there be the need. Completed applications must be filed at least ten (10) days before the next Board meeting.
